What Happens During Seamless Gutter Installation?

Gutters are an important part of your home. Without them, you’ll be exposing your roof and your house to risks of moisture damage. There are many types of gutters, but seamless gutters are widely considered the best option. They are more durable and effective as they are measured and made specifically for your home. Seamless gutters also don’t have gaps or joints that need sealing or frequent maintenance, making them a better choice than seamed gutters.

Here’s what goes on during seamless gutter installation.

Tear Offs

The first part of the installation would be tearing off the old gutter system. This will make space for your new seamless gutters. The gutters, downspouts, hangers and everything else will be properly removed, disassembled and collected for either disposal or recycling. Once finished, the contractor will typically conduct a second inspection to confirm the current state of the areas where the gutters are going to be attached, taking note of sections with weakened structures and signs of rot.

Measurements and Fabrication

Now that the old system has been removed, the contractor will then take the measurements of the eaves. These measurements will be used in ensuring the seamless gutters fit perfectly. While measuring, the contractor will also note the best spots to install your downspouts. Generally, these are the areas where water can be safely diverted away from your home and into the intended channels. After taking all the necessary measurements, the fabrication of the seamless gutters and downspouts will start.

Installation and Cleanup

After the fabrication of the seamless gutters, the contractors will punch out the spots where the downspouts will be connected and place all required miters and end caps. Then, they will have to mount the gutters onto the eaves of your home using hangers. Proper spacing is required to ensure good weight distribution. Afterward, the downspouts will be installed, and cleanup will conclude the installation process.
